About

Local development
should be boring

It should start when you open it, run the versions your client actually uses, and stay out of the way. That is the whole product.

Why we built it

Every macOS developer has lost an afternoon to their local environment. A Homebrew upgrade takes PHP with it. A client needs 7.4 and your machine only has 8.3. SSL works in Chrome but not in Safari. The tool that was supposed to save time became the thing you fight.

The existing options each ask for something. Some want a subscription before you can switch a PHP version. Some want Docker running all day. Some want you to install a package manager, then keep it healthy forever. All of them assume the machine is a server.

LocalSoft takes the opposite position. It ships every binary it needs inside the app — Apache, nginx, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, mkcert — already compiled, already relocated, already signed. You drag one file to Applications. Nothing else is installed on your Mac, and nothing on your Mac can break it.

What we hold to

Self-contained, always

No Homebrew, no MacPorts, no Docker, no curl-pipe-bash. If the app needs it, the app carries it. Deleting LocalSoft leaves your Mac as it was.

Buy it, own it

A lifetime licence is a real lifetime licence. The version you paid for keeps working, offline, whatever we decide to charge later.

Your code is yours

No telemetry, no analytics in the app, no account required to write code. The licence check is one request and it fails open.

Native, not a wrapper

A real macOS app in Rust and TypeScript. It opens in under a second and idles at a few megabytes, because a dev tool should not cost you a CPU core.

Who we are

A small independent team. Small enough that the person answering your email is the person who will fix the bug, and that shipping a fix takes days rather than a release cycle.

We are not venture funded and we do not sell your data, so the only thing keeping us going is people buying the app and telling other people it is good. That shapes what we build: fewer features, finished properly.

Where we are going

If something on that list would change your working day, tell us. Customer email is the roadmap.
