Privacy policy

LocalSoft sells and supports a macOS development application. This policy covers the website at localsoft.app, the licence service at api.localsoft.app, and the LocalSoft app.

The short version: we hold what is needed to sell you a licence, keep it working, and answer your email. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising trackers, and the app does not report on what you build with it.

What we collect

When you buy

• Your email address, so we can send the licence key and receipts
• Your licence key, plan and purchase date
• Stripe customer, session and subscription identifiers
• Billing country and any tax identifier you enter, because tax law requires it

Card details are entered on Stripe's systems and never reach ours.

When you activate the app

• Your licence key
• A device identifier derived from your Mac, so a three-device licence can be counted
• The platform the app is running on

The identifier lets us distinguish one machine from another. It does not tell us your name, your location, or anything about your files.

When you contact us

• Your name, email address, and whatever you write
• Optionally a licence key and macOS version, if you provide them
• A one-way hash of your IP address, used only to stop automated abuse of the form

When you arrive through a referral link

A cookie records which partner referred you, so a sale can be credited correctly. It lasts 60 days, holds only the partner code, and is not used to profile you or follow you elsewhere.

What we do not collect

• Your code, databases, project names or file paths
• Analytics or behavioural tracking inside the application
• Anything at all if you use the free tier without contacting us

Why we are allowed to hold it

• To perform our contract with you — issuing a licence, activating it, supporting it
• Legal obligation — keeping tax and accounting records
• Legitimate interests — preventing licence abuse, stopping form spam, and paying partners correctly

Who else sees it

That is the complete list. We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone else, and we do not use it to train anything.

How long we keep it

• Licence and activation records — while the licence exists, since it is what makes the app work
• Invoices and tax records — as long as tax law requires, typically several years
• Contact messages — until the matter is resolved and no longer useful as history
• Referral clicks — 24 months, then deleted

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to privacy@localsoft.app and we will answer within 30 days, usually far sooner. We will not make you jump through hoops, and asking costs you nothing.

Deleting your licence record means the licence stops working, so we will confirm that you understand before acting on it.

If you are in the EEA or the UK and think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first.

Cookies

The website sets a cookie only if you arrive through a partner referral link, as described above. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to tell people from bots.

Children

LocalSoft is a professional development tool and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will also be emailed.

Who is responsible for your data

LocalSoft is operated by MEGAHOST LLC, and that company is the data controller for the information described on this page.
